God’s Grace Continues to Work
God has not finished His work in you.
In fact, He promises to continue it.
The Bible teaches that God’s grace works throughout our entire lives. During this stage of your journey, we begin to understand two beautiful expressions of God’s grace: Justifying Grace and Sanctifying Grace.
As a reminder, grace is God’s freely given love, mercy, and help. It cannot be earned or deserved. It is His gift to us.
Justifying Grace
Justifying grace is God’s gracious act of forgiving our sins and declaring us righteous through faith in Jesus Christ.
When we place our trust in Christ, God pardons our guilt—not because of anything we have done, but because of what Jesus accomplished through His death and resurrection.
Justification happens in a moment.
It changes our relationship with God. We are no longer separated by sin but welcomed into His family as forgiven sons and daughters.
This gift is received by faith alone. It cannot be earned through good works, religious activity, or personal effort
As Scripture reminds us:
“This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe… for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:22–24
Sanctifying Grace
While justification changes our standing before God, Sanctifying Grace begins changing us from the inside out.
Sanctification is the lifelong work of the Holy Spirit, shaping believers into the likeness of Jesus Christ.
This is not about earning salvation.
Instead, it is the natural result of receiving God’s grace. As we grow in faith, the Holy Spirit transforms our hearts, renews our minds, and teaches us to love God and others more fully.
God does the transforming.
We respond by faithfully seeking Him through prayer, studying Scripture, worship, fellowship, serving others, and turning away from sin. These spiritual disciplines do not produce God’s grace—they position us to grow in the grace He has already given.
The Wesleyan Understanding of Grace
John Wesley described God’s work through three expressions of grace:
Prevenient Grace is God’s grace that comes before we know Him, drawing us toward Christ
Justifying Grace forgives our sins and restores our relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Sanctifying Grace continues God’s transforming work within us, making us more like Christ throughout our lives.
Prevenient grace awakens us.
Justifying grace forgives us.
Sanctifying grace transforms us.Together, they reveal God’s loving desire to restore every part of our lives.

Understanding The EMBERS Modules Your Journey Begins Here!
Welcome to THE EMBERS.
The spark of faith has been ignited. Now God desires to fan those embers into a steady, enduring fire.
When you first placed your faith in Jesus Christ, something incredible happened. Through His grace, your sins were forgiven, your relationship with God was restored, and you became His beloved child. The Bible calls this justification—God’s gracious declaration that you are made right with Him through faith in Jesus Christ.
But salvation is not the finish line. It is the beginning of a lifelong journey.
From the moment you trusted Christ, the Holy Spirit began another work within you—a work of transformation. This ongoing process is called sanctification. Day by day, God shapes your heart, renews your mind, and forms you into the likeness of Jesus. This transformation doesn’t happen overnight.
It happens as we continually respond to God’s grace through prayer, Scripture, worship, fellowship, obedience, and service. These practices do not earn God’s love—they position us to receive and cooperate with the grace He freely gives. John Wesley described this as Sanctifying Grace—God’s continuing work of making us holy through the power of His Spirit.
“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”— Philippians 1:6
